PUBLISHING READINESS REVIEW

Know what your book needs before the next stage.

For authors with a draft or publication plan who need a practical route before paying for editing, formatting, a cover or distribution work.

A clearer route forward

Review: your project brief, synopsis and a short manuscript extract.

Receive: a written report, prioritised action plan and one round of written clarification.

Decide: which steps to take next, with the scope and price agreed before work begins.

Know what is covered

A focused starting point for your publishing decisions, with clear limits before you commission any work.

What the starter review covers

  • One project brief, a synopsis of up to 1,000 words and an extract of up to 3,000 words.
  • A written report on the intended audience, manuscript stage, formats, production sequence and missing information.
  • A prioritised action plan showing what to do now, what can wait and where specialist input may be needed.
  • Relevant free resources and one round of written clarification on the report.

What is outside this scope

This is an extract and project review. It does not assess every chapter or include developmental editing, copy-editing, proofreading, rewriting, fact-checking or legal review. A full manuscript assessment needs a separate scope.

From enquiry to a practical plan

01

Tell us where you are

Start with a short overview of your book, current stage and the decision you need help with. Do not send your synopsis or extract until we agree how to share it.

02

Agree the work

We confirm the material needed, deliverables, exclusions, revision allowance, total price and delivery date in writing. You decide whether to proceed.

03

Choose your next steps

Use the written report and prioritised action plan to decide what to do now, what can wait and where specialist support may be needed. One round of written clarification is included.

Illustrative example only. This is a sample structure, not feedback on a real client's manuscript.

  • Current stage: record the completed draft, revision history and intended reader.
  • Decision before production: confirm the intended formats and resolve missing permissions or material.
  • Next action: prepare one authoritative manuscript file and a chapter outline before requesting the next quotation.

Price and delivery

Enquire with a short overview first. We confirm the material needed, deliverables, exclusions, revision allowance, total price and delivery date in writing before you decide. Send a synopsis or extract only after we agree how to share it.

Your book stays yours

You remain the publisher. You keep your rights, publishing accounts and ISBN choices. Mystic Publishing charges for agreed work and takes no share of your royalties. Communication and feedback are provided in writing.

A publishing question between services?

You can also enquire about a publishing decision, an assessment or practical guidance that does not fit neatly into one service. Tell us what you are trying to resolve. We will explain whether we can help, what a suitable scope might involve, or where specialist input is needed.

Advice and suggestions support your decisions. They do not commit you to commissioning production work or transferring control of your book.

Start with a short overview.

Tell us about your book and the next decision you face. We will confirm whether this review is a useful fit and set out any proposed work in writing.

Work is agreed in writing. If AI tools are proposed for your project, their role and the handling of your material are agreed before use. You approve the final work.
